We stop at six classic New Orleans-style food places that really showcase New Orleans culinary history. Between the food stops, your guide narrates the quintessential history, culture, and food scene of the gorgeous Vieux Carre (“Old Square”) neighborhood.

Tasting Locations

This three-hour walking tour includes six tastings at different establishments (subject to change). Private tour tasting locations may be different than the ones listed below.

  • Central Grocery & Deli: The birthplace of the world-famous muffaletta sandwich also sells a wide variety of imported specialty foods
  • Chartres House: Iconic Cajun-Creole headquarters serving South Louisiana’s finest foods in a gracefully snug historic building
  • Verti Marte: Prodigious neighborhood deli and grocery open 24/7 with a large selection of Creole soul food dishes, sandwiches and sides
  • Nola Po-boys: Up-and-coming sandwich company with dozens of expertly crafted classic and contemporary PoBoys, plus great sides
  • Cafe Beignet: Café Beignet is a cup full of New Orleans’ best European traditions and crisp beignets (ben-yays)
