Time: Offered daily. We’re quite flexible on the start time – we can begin the class anytime between 11 am and 7 pm.
Group Requirements: Minimum of 10 and maximum of 60 participants. (You may book for fewer people but need to purchase at least 10 tickets.)
Duration: 2 hours of flavor and fun!
Where: Our cooking space (address available upon inquiry)
Food: See cuisine choices for NYC below. Enough food for lunch or dinner.
Pricing: Classes start at $139 per person which includes all the food your group cooks (plenty for lunch or dinner). There is a $200 cleaning surcharge. The surcharge is waived for groups of more than 15 participants.
Add Ons: You can add extra features to your event depending on your group’s needs:
- “Extra” food/catering in addition to the foods your group prepares. We will provide you with options to choose from. Can be appetizers and/or dessert. We can accommodate dietary restrictions ($15 per person)
- We can purchase the alcohol, soft drinks, water, ice, etc and bring it to the venue for you. Simply let us know what you want to drink and your budget. There is a 15% provider surcharge on the cost of the drinks if you choose this add-on. BYOB is an alternative option in select cases.
Rescheduling Policy: You may reschedule for any reason. However, there are rebooking fees if you don’t let us know by a certain time frame —
- 30 days before the event start time – reschedule with no charges
- Between 30 days and 7 days before event start time and there is a $350 surcharge
- Let us know less than 7 days before the event start time and there is a $700 surcharge

Meet Your Chef

Chef Rob Ritchie is a James Beard Award winning chef with over 20 years of professional experience. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, he currently works as an Executive Chef for the Canadian Consulate General in Manhattan. He has many years of experience in kitchens around New York cooking a variety of cuisines from around the world. He loves teaching people to cook all types of cuisine from French haute cuisine and continental to globally inspired street food and fine dining. Rob prides himself on being a very friendly, helpful and hard working Chef willing to go to any lengths to make your class a special one.
WHAT TO EXPECT ON YOUR SIDEWALK GROUP COOKING CLASS
- Arrive at our venue for a 2-hour cooking class
- You’re welcomed by our professional Chef and his/her staff
- Snack on a delicious crudite and charcuterie appetizer.

The class is designed to be enjoyable and informative for both beginners and more advanced cooks. The professional chef (and teacher!) is there to help you as much as you need throughout the cooking process. We do the preparation in advance, so you can focus on the fun part, cooking and connecting with your people.

Our cooking competitions are run like our cooking classes but with a fun competitive element.
Upon arrival, you will be split up into teams that will compete to make the perfect dish in your cuisine of choice. Everyone will make their food but will collaborate as a team to help each other cook a tasty dish.
Our chef will be the judge. You will be judged as a team on presentation, taste, and timing. The winners will receive a trophy tasting and bragging rights.

The Iron Chef-Style Cooking Competition is slightly different from the cooking class and cooking competition. Instead of choosing the cuisine you want to make in advance, you will be given a pantry full of ingredients and your team will decide on the spot what dish to prepare.
Our chef will act as judge and choose the winning team based on culinary criteria familiar from TV. The winning team will receive a bonus tasting. All the teams will love eating the ‘fruits’ of their labor.
*Included in all cooking class options: A charcuterie and crudite platter as a welcome snack, an expert chef with support staff, and enough food for lunch/dinner. Loads of creativity, flavor and fun!
